Frequently Asked Questions
NO!!! We have students of all shapes and sizes. In fact many of our students come through our doors because they are looking to get in shape, but want an alternative to going to traditional gyms. After training with us for one month with consistent training students generally start to lose pounds, elevate their mood, and obtain higher levels of cardio much faster than they would doing the same old boring work out routines at the gym.
At Practical we have all walks of life, and we realize that everyone learns at a different pace and has a different level of physicality. No one technique or method of training works exactly the same for everyone so all of our instructors are trained to help aid and guide students to adjust a technique in a way that the movement will work for their individual body type. We realize that students have the option to train at many academies, so we do our very best to keep a smoothly run and cleanly facility. We have students that travel quite the distance to train with us and we commonly hear that our "drama-free" atmosphere and approach to teaching is what separates us from many other places. We believe in treating all of our students with the utmost respect, whether it be the hobbyist, the serious competitor or the average person just looking to get into shape, everyone is treated the same.
Classes for all of our beginner, fundamentals, and all levels programs are of a very moderate intesity level. We have students of all different body types and fitness levels; Although we try to get people to try new exercises/training methods that they may not be used to we encourage students to work at their own pace. Intermediate-advanced classes on the other hand are definitely more intense and students should only come to these after taking a fundamentals course first.
Yes! However communal use gear is first come first serve. We supply and sanitize our training/coaching pads for our striking programs but it is strongly recommended that students purchase their own gear for hygeinic purposes.
No our memberships are either purchased on a month to month basis, and/or a daily drop in rate.
Signup fees are for an equipment package that gets students started on their training journey i.e. BJJ uniform, boxing gloves, shinpads, mouthpiece, etc.etc. This fee can be waived if students present training gear approved by the head instructor. The gear we supply with start up is of good solid quality, and if students were to purchase the same quality in which we supply themselves online, they would find the same gear at a much higher cost.
Cancellation is simple! Monthly memberships will be drafted from the account on file until PMMA is notified otherwise. All one needs to do is send us a message via email to [email protected] or physically come into PMMA's facility and speak to the lead instructor of the day. This must be done before the following month starts, i.e. if you would like to cancel February's payment, one must come in or send an email any day before the end of business on the last day of the prior month (January 31st).
